Even as opportunities have grown for women in business, science and media technology, many young women remain unaware of these careers. Targeted at young women, this all-day conference is designed to educate and excite high school girls about rewarding careers in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and math). Each year, DeVry University joins forces with companies and organizations who share our mission of increasing the number of young women who consider non-traditional careers in these fields. Through discussions and hands-on activities led by leading female professional role models, participants will be challenged to employ creative-thinking skills in a team-based environment that promotes career exploration and growth. At the end of the day, our goal is to have students walk away with new inspirations and the confidence that no career is out of their reach.
Our STEM Summer Camp has been designed by our Deans and faculty members in the College of Engineering and Information Sciences with one goal in mind - helping students explore the opportunities available to them in the STEM fields while developing relevant 21st century skills. Offered as a 3-Day summer enrichment program, the camp is open to all local high school students. Each day the students will embark on a journey to explore and discover the world of STEM! Workshop materials and a daily lunch are provided by DeVry University at minimal cost to the student. Once the student has completed the camp, the students and their family members will be invited to attend a recognition and awards dinner on Friday evening.
